To Explain:The sequence of events for a chain reaction that takes place.
Answer to Problem 59A
For a nuclear reaction to takes place, the neutrons need to be emitted from a nucleus that undergoes fission, and then it is absorbed by the nucleus which is near to it.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Nuclear chain reactions are the reactions in which there is a sequence where the nuclear fission takes place, the nucleus splits and this reaction is followed by a neutron which is produced in the next fission.
In a nuclear fission reaction, the nucleus splits into smaller parts of nuclei called the fission products.
A chain reaction is the process where the neutrons are emitted in the process of fission and leads to the production of extra fission in at least one of the next nucleus.
If there is a release of two or more neutrons then the number of a fission reaction is double in every generation.
Conclusion:
Hence, for a nuclear reaction to takes place, one of the products of the reaction should also be a reactant.
