A solution is a homogenous mixture where one or more substance dissolves into another. A solution is formed when a solute is dissolved into a solvent. The solute is the ingredient which gets dissolved whereas the solvent is the dissolving medium.

An aqueous solution is formed when water acts as a solvent and contains one or more dissolved solute. The dissolved constituents in an aqueous solution may be liquids, solids, or gases.

The transition metals are those who have electrons in d orbital. They impart color in aqueous solutions. For example, Titanium as it contains unpaired electrons in the d orbital and these electrons can transition between orbitals resulting in d-d transitions and thus producing color.
