In exothermic process, chemical potential energy is converted into heat.
In endothermic process, heat is absorbed and converted into chemical potential energy.
Explanation of Solution
In exothermic process, the enthalpy of products is less than reactants and that amount is converted into heat.
In endothermic process, the enthalpy of products is more than reactants and that increased amount is due to absorption of heat.
Thus in both reactions, one form of energy is converted into another form of energy.
