Answer to Problem 11STP
The electron dot model is given by:
The chemical formula of calcium chloride is CaCl2.
Explanation of Solution
Calcium has two electrons in valence shell and hence it has tendency to loss two electrons where Chlorine has seven electrons in valence shell and hence it has tendency to gain one electron. Therefore one atom of calcium forms ionic bond with two atoms of chlorine.
The chemical formula of calcium chloride is CaCl2 which is formed by loss of two electrons by calcium and gain of two electrons by two chlorine atoms.
