The process by which fatty acids are synthesized from Acetyl Co-A and NADPH with the help of enzymes is known as fatty acid synthesis. The process occurs in the cytoplasm of living cells. The synthesis of fatty acids starts when there is a deficiency of fatty acids, or high quantities of carbohydrates or proteins are consumed.
