Biotransformation is a process in which enzyme catalyzed ordered reactions take place in order to convert the toxic substances into less toxic metabolites. It is an important process for converting toxic hydrophobic metabolites to nontoxic water soluble that are more easily excreted. These reactions are central to metabolism, and alsoplay a vital role in toxicity reduction.
