Diet promoters make much of research showing that high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets produce a little more weight loss than balanced diets over the first few months of dieting. Eating normal amount of lean protein-rich foods while reducing carbohydrate and fat intakes, automatically reduces calories and shifts the nutrient balance towards a higher percentage of energy from protein.
