List slicing:

• • The process of choosing a range of data items from a list is called as list slicing.
• • In Python, an expression that chooses a sub list from a sequence is called as a slice.
• • A slice is a span of data items that are taken out from a list.
• • Generally, the slice expression has start and end indices as its inputs.
• • If the end index is not given, then the list’s length is taken as the end index.
• • The start and end indices in the list slice expression can also have the negative integers as their values.
• • The negative integers indicate the location that is relative to the end of the list.

Syntax:

In python, the list slice expression with a negative index has the below format.

#Create an expression to slice the list

listname[negative_index:]

or

#Create an expression to slice the list

listname[:negative_index]
