Consider Problem 6.15 with the nozzle directed upward. Assuming that the flow is uniform at each section, derive and plot the acceleration of a fluid particle for an inlet speed of Vi = 2 m/s. Plot the pressure gradient through the nozzle and find its maximum absolute value. If the pressure gradient must be no greater than 7 MPa/m in absolute value, how long would the nozzle have to be?
A nozzle for an incompressible, inviscid fluid of density ρ = 1000 kg/m3 consists of a horizontal converging section of pipe. At the inlet the diameter is Di = 100 mm, and at the outlet the diameter is Do = 20 mm. The nozzle length is L = 500 mm, and the diameter decreases linearly with distance x along the nozzle. Derive and plot the acceleration of a fluid particle, assuming uniform flow at each section, if the speed at the inlet is Vi = 1 m/s. Plot the pressure gradient through the nozzle, and find its maximum absolute value. If the pressure gradient must be no greater than 5 MPa/m in absolute value, how long would the nozzle have to be?

- Fluid Dynamics questionarrow_forward3.7. In Fig. 3.4b is shown the unsteady-state streamlines of a cylinder moving with a uniform velocity U in the fluid at rest. Calculate and draw the un- steady-state streamlines at an interval of 10° (0 = 10°). The tangential com- ponent of velocity on the surface of the cylinder in a uniform stream, U., is given by r = -2U sin 0.arrow_forwardFluid dynamicsarrow_forward
- 5.69 Consider a steady, laminar, fully developed incompressible flow between two infinite parallel plates separated by a distance 2h as shown below. The top plate moves with a velocity Vo. Derive an expression for the velocity profile. Determine the pressure gradient for which the flow rate is zero. Plot the profile for that condition. Vo y 2 harrow_forwardConsider steady, incompressible, laminar flow of a Newtonian fluid in an infinitely long round pipe of diameter D or radius R = D/2 inclined at angle a. There is no applied pressure gradient (@P/x = 0). Instead, the fluid flows down the pipe due to gravity alone. We adopt the coordinate system shown, with x down the axis of the pipe. Derive an expression for the x- component of velocity u as a function of radius r and the other parameters of the problem. Calculate the volume flow rate and average axial velocity through the pipe. 10₂ α Pipe wall Fluid: p. p Rarrow_forwardPlease find the question attached.arrow_forward
