The air temperature near the ceiling of a room is higher as compare to the temperature of the air near the floor.
Answer to Problem 12R
This is due to the density of the air on different temperature.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The warm air is lighter as compare to the cold air.
On increasing the temperature of the air its particle starts moving due to the kinetic energy in them. Therefore, the density of the warm air becomes low and it goes in upward direction towards the ceiling. The density of the air particle is high when it is cold and so it remain stays towards the floor.
Conclusion:
Hence, the warm air lifted upward due to its light density and the cold air settle downward as it has high density.
