Formula used:

Final velocity with constant acceleration can be obtained by:

  vfinal=vinitial+aΔt

Where, Δt is the time taken, a is acceleration and v represents velocity.

The distance traveled by an object with a constant acceleration can be obtained by:

  dfinal=dinitial+vinitialΔt+12aΔt2

Here, d represents displacement, v represents velocity, t represents time and a is the acceleration.

Calculation:

First, find acceleration in terms of initial velocity:

  vfinal=vinitial+aΔt7.5=vinitial+a(4.5)a=7.5v initial4.5    ...........(1)

Now, assume the initial position of the car to be 0, that is:

  dinitial=0m

Then, the distance travelled by the car in 4.5s can be written as:

  dfinal=0+(v initial)(4.5)+12(a)(4.5)219=4.5vinitial+10.125a

Substitute equation (1) in above equation and solve.
