Force on the charge.

Answer to Problem 5PP
F=8.1×10−6 N towards south.
Explanation of Solution
Given:
Positive test charge, q=3×10−7 C
Strength of electric field E=27 N/C directed towards the south.
Formula Used:
As strength of electric field is given by,
E=Fq
Where, E is electric field strength, F is force experienced by charge in electric field and q is the test charge.
Calculation:
So, on putting the given values in above formula,
27=F3×10−7F=27×(3×10−7) N=8.1×10−6 N
Since, the test charge is positive, so the direction of force will also be same as electric field, i.e., towards north.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the force acting on the charge is F=8.1×10−6 N towards south.
