For the given monosaccharide, acetal/hemiacetal carbon, anomeric carbon &α or **beta; anomeric nature should be decided.
Concept introduction:
When an alcohol and ether group is attached to the same carbon, it is called the hemiacetal carbon. When 2 ether groups are attached to the same carbon, it is called as the acetal carbon.
Two anomers exist as alpha (α) ** beta (β), depending on the configuration differences in the anomeric carbon of a monosaccharide.
