Chapter 20, Problem 16RQ
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The place of injury when a needle is inserted deep into the cubital fossa instead of the median cubital vein.

Introduction:

Cubital veins are superficial veins of the upper limb. The median cubital vein connects the basilica and cephalic veins in the region of cubital fossa. The median cubital vein is easy to locate and hence, used to take blood or to inject medications in the body. The needle has to be inserted carefully into the median cubital vein in order to avoid injury to any other vessel and tissue.
