Chapter 20, Problem 9CYU
Summary Introduction
To review:
The organs where the hepatic and hepatic portal veins drain out the blood, and the vessels where they get emptied.
Introduction:
The deoxygenated blood returning from the wall of the abdominal regionreachesthe heart throughthe inferior vena cava. The superior vena cava has the task of carrying deoxygenated blood from the upper body parts and transports it to the right atrium of the heart for the purification. The oxygenated blood from the heart is transported back to the body parts through the arteries.

Cirrhosis of the liver, a disease commonly associated with alcoholism, obstructs blood flow through hepatic blood vessels. As a result, blood backs up and capillary pressure greatly increases in organs drained by the hepatic portal system. What effects might this increasing capillary pressure produce, and which organs would it affect?
The hepatic portal vein receives blood from four major veins. What are the major veins?
which has larger lumen (opening for blood flow):an artery, or a vein?
