Concept Introduction:

Alkynes contain a triple bond.  The spatial arrangement of carbon atom that is bonded by the triple bond is linear.  Due to this linearity, cis‑trans isomerism is not possible at all.  The same cis‑trans isomerism is found in alkenes.

Skeletal isomers and positional isomers are possible for alkynes.
