Concept introduction:

A wax is an ester that is derived from long chain alcohols and long chain carboxylic acids. Due to the presence of long alkyl chain on both side of ester, waxes are non-polar or hydrophobic in nature. Therefore, they do not interact with water molecules. They do not dissolve in water and the compounds that contain mostly aqueous part.
