The solution will contain some other components as solvents. It may or may not have water in it. Whereas, aqueous solution contains only water as a solvent.
Explanation of Solution
When the ethene and di-chloromethane solution the solute will be ethene and the solvent will be di-chloromethane. In this solution, no water is available in the form of a solvent. Therefore, these are solutions in general. When an aqueous solution such as salt in water and copper sulfate in water is considered, the solvent will be pure water. Hence, they are called aqueous solutions.
The classification of the solution is generally done based on the type of solvent that is used. If water is used as a solvent, then it is called an aqueous solution and if water is not used as a solvent, then it is called a non-aqueous solution.
