The surfactant will reduce the surface tension of the water.
Explanation of Solution
Water has a high surface tension due to the strong cohesive interactions between its molecules. Surfactants disrupt these interactions when they absorb. Surface tension would drop because the intermolecular interactions between the water molecules, as well as the surfactant, are substantially smaller than those between two water molecules.
Hence, the surfactant will reduce the surface tension of water.
