Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The solution on both sides of a membrane have to be compared.
Concept introduction:
Solution is a homogeneous mixture of solute and solvent where a solute is fully dissolved in the solvent. Depending upon the amount of solvent present in the solution, the solution is classified as dilute and concentrated solution.

Answer to Problem 96A
Dilute solutioncontains more amount of solvent than the concentrated solution. Concentrated solution is diluted by adding solvent to make diluted solution. Two solutions with different concentrations are present in either sides of the membrane. The solvent molecules from the diluted solution can enter to the concentrated solution through the membrane.
