Interpretation:
The probable effect on the protein after mutation of one of the bases of DNA is to be determined.
Concept introduction:
Any minute change in the gene sequence of DNA strands impacts mRNA and implies changes in the resulting protein. Therefore, any mutations in the DNA will surely alter the resulting protein. Substitution of bases is a common and simple cause of mutation of DNA. It takes place either by pairing purine to purine, pyrimidine to pyrimidine, or purine to pyridine.
