Chapter 11, Problem 21RA
Summary Introduction
To review:
The significance of the term ‘trophic’ with reference to the actions of anterior pituitary hormones.
Introduction:
The pituitary gland or hypophysis is a small gland that is pea-sized and present in the brain. It is attached to the hypothalamus. The pituitary gland is divided into two lobes namely, anterior lobe or adenohypophysis and posterior lobe or neurohypophysis. The anterior lobe contains two parts called pars distalis or anterior pituitary and pars tuberalis.
