Concept explainers
To explain:
Suppose you are given the task of constructing a plasmid expression vector suitable for molecular cloning in an organism of industrial interest. List the characteristics of which such type of plasmid should have. List the steps that are used to create such a plasmid.
Introduction:
In order to facilitate the most common uses of the cloned gene, specialized vectors have been engineered. These vectors are synthesized to optimize the cloned gene expression in the host or for moving the cloned genes between different host organisms. These types of vectors are termed as expression and shuttle vectors respectively. The expression vector is a constructed plasmid vector. These vectors possess the regulatory sequences that allow the manipulation of gene expression of the cloned genes.
