Summary Introduction

The cloned genes are used for a variety of purposes and in order to facilitate this, specialized vectors have been engineered. These vectors are synthesized to optimize the cloned gene expression in the host or for moving the cloned genes between different host organisms. These types of vectors are termed as expression and shuttle vectors respectively. The shuttle vector is a constructed plasmid vector. It has the ability to stably maintain and replicate in two different (unrelated) host organisms.
