Chapter 39.6, Problem 3RIA
Summary Introduction
The medical term odonto indicates “tooth”, so the terminology odontopathogens refers to pathogens of the tooth or dental pathogens. Odontopathogens are responsible for causing disease in humans, namely tooth decay and periodontal disease. The human tooth has a natural protective mechanism. This mechanism may act against bacterial colonization that complements the defensive role of saliva.
