Summary Introduction
Plague is a contagious disease caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, a Gram-negative bacterium. The pathogenic bacteria usually found in rodents, specifically rats, and in the fleas which feed on them. Humans and other animals transmit the bacteria from infected rodent or flea bite. The common symptoms of plague include weakness, fever, and headache.
