The current is induced as there is a change in the magnetic field. The metal ring is a conductor and when it is placed in a rapidly changing magnetic field the current is induced. The metal ring offers resistance to the flow of electricity. This loss of energy is converted into heat energy. This heat energy is responsible to feel the metal ring as hot.
Conclusion:
The metal ring becomes hot due to the heating effect produced by induced current.
