Concept explainers
To Explain: The term normal to a surface.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Normal to the surface means perpendicular to the surface at a particular point.
Normal to the surface is a line that is perpendicular to the tangent plane at a particular point. Normal is considered for the closed surfaces and the drawing directions of normal for inward direction and outward direction are different.
Conclusion:
That line which is perpendicular to the closed surfaces or curved surfaces, is known as normal to the surface.
