Concept explainers
To Explain: The raindrop that is similar to the prism.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The raindrop and the prism, both show the internal reflection and refraction of light. Due to internal reflection, the light gets reflected inside the surface and refracted in different colors which makes VIBGYOR.
Explanation:
A person looking at the rainbow, the sun’s position is probably above and behind that person. And the rain is in front of the person.
The sunlight is primarily the white light that reflects from the raindrops. The colors of the rainbow are not only due to the reflection but it is due to refraction and dispersion from the raindrops.
So, the raindrop is similar to a prism.
Conclusion:
The prism is similar to the raindrop when the sun’s light that refracted into different colors.
