Lipids are the organic material which is soluble in some organic solvents whereas insoluble in water. These include different types of compounds such as phospholipids, fats, and steroids. These play important functions in a cell. Examples of some common lipids are a vegetable oil, butter, cholesterol, and other steroids, waxes, phospholipids, and fat-soluble vitamins.
