Introduction:
A condition in which a person breathes faster than the normal rate (ventilation increases) is known as hyperventilation. It results in low level of carbon dioxide in the blood. On the other hand, when there is a decrease in the breathing rate that leads to a decrease in the ventilation, the condition is known as hypoventilation.
