Introduction:
Calcium ions are important for the body because it helps in the synaptic transmission in neurons, muscular contractions, blood clotting, intercellular signaling, and various other physiological processes of the body. Most importantly, both phosphate and calcium ions are present in the form of hydroxyapatite crystals, which are deposited on the bones. The phosphate ions are an important part of the ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) molecules, which are the energy currency of the cells. The energy released after the dissociation of the phosphate groups, drive all the physiological processes of the body.
