Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Polymers are made when several monomer molecules combine in a chain.
Polystyrene is used to make both CD cases and foam drinking cups. Polystyrene can take two different forms. The polystyrene used for CD cases is transparent and brittle. When polystyrene is melted and carbon dioxide blown into it, the bubbles of the gas will remain in it as it cools. This transforms polystyrene into an insulator and hence it can be used in foam cups.
Conclusion:
Polystyrene is also used to make disposable food containers.
