Interpretation:
The change in equilibrium of reaction when 10g of KCl was dissolved in the soft drink needs to be determined.
Concept introduction:
Le Chatelier principle states that a system at equilibrium when subjected to changes in the system adjusts it self to attain the equilibrium state again.

Answer to Problem 59A
On the addition of 10 g of solid KCl in the soft drink, brisk effervescence of carbon dioxide will be observed due to the shifting of equilibrium to the right.
Explanation of Solution
The addition of any non impurity in the solution decreases the vapour pressure of the solution which is a colligative property. In accordance with Le Chatelier principle, the reduction in pressure will shift quickly to the right resulting in an immediate release of CO2 gas in the form of effervescence.
On the dissolution of salt in a soft drink brisk effervescence will be observed.
