Introduction:
The superior borders of the kidneys are capped by paired organs known as the adrenal glands.The adrenal cortex is the outer part of the adrenal gland. The adrenal cortex is derived from embryonic mesodermtissue. The adrenal cortex does not receive neural innervations, hence its secretion is stimulated hormonally through adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) secreted from the anterior pituitary.
