The effect of growth hormone in an adult.
Introduction:
Growth hormone is synthesized by the anterior pituitary gland in response to stimulation by gonadotropin-releasing hormone secreted by the hypothalamus. It promotes tissue growth by stimulating the uptake of amino acids and synthesis of proteins in target cells. It promotes bone growth by stimulating division of chondrocytes present in the epiphyseal plate (growth plate) of long bones.
