Introduction:
The pituitary gland has two lobes, namely anterior lobe or adenohypophysis and posterior lobe or neurohypophysis. The anterior lobe contains two parts called pars distalis or anterior pituitary and pars tuberalis. The hormonal secretions of the anterior pituitary gland are thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), gonadotropic hormone, prolactin, melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH), and growth hormone (GH).
