Concept introduction:

DNA is the genetic material that is present inside the nucleus. It is a polymer of nucleotides that contain a nitrogen base, a pentose sugar, and a phosphate group. DNA is negatively charged and is associated with the positively charged ions, such as sodium and magnesium ions.

DNA exists in different conformations, which are A-DNA, B-DNA, and Z-DNA. These forms of DNA differ in their number of bases per complete turn, the pitch of the helix, and other features. The B-form of DNA is the most common natural form.
