Concept introduction:
A lawsuit is a legal proceeding or petition that is filed by one party against the other in the court. The court then has to take the decision to end the disagreement between the two parties. The complaint can be filed against any organization, company, or person. Lawsuits can also be filed against the patent of a company.
The advancements in technologies and researches have increased the patents in the biotech field and the companies are patenting genes, cells, and cell proteins. This has received a strong opposition from the researchers as the patented genes cannot be studied by others. The genes that are responsible for a disease get patented, thus it becomes more difficult for research and clinical purposes.
