The reason behind the belief of researchers that lncRNA is a promising field for developing drug therapies is to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
There are many types of RNAs (ribonucleic acids) that have been discovered in recent years. These include small nuclear RNAs (snRNA) which are found only in the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell and are involved in the processing of initial mRNA (messenger RNA) transcription product to a mature form. Micro RNAs (miRNA) and siRNAs (small interfering RNA) are also discovered recently.
The new RNAs that are discovered block gene expression by various mechanisms. The lncRNA (long non-coding ribonucleic acid) is another type of RNA which is present in thousands and scattered everywhere in the cell. It is defined by transcripts longer than 200
