Explain the importance of process selection in system design.
To explain: The importance of the process selection in the system design.
Process selection:
It is the tactical choices made by a firm in picking the kind of production procedure to be followed in the process of production. The process is selected after reviewing many numbers of criteria and constraints.
Explanation of Solution
Importance of process selection in system design:
Process selection is the way an organization decides to develop a product or deliver a service. The selection process will agree on the kind of technology, processing, and other associated activities. These choices make or break the accomplishment of an organization.
Process selection is important in system design because the selected process will have implications on the capacity planning capabilities, the formation, and placing the specific apparatus in the specific location in the arrangement of the plant. It will also decide how the work system will function in the selected process.
The organization has to choose a process that is suitable, feasible, and profitable for their business rather than following other’s practices. Hence, process selection is vital in system design.

The hospital, however, must complete its first 10 transplants under great scrutiny and at no cost to the patients with the hospital picking the expenses. The cost per hour of surgery is estimated to be $5,000. The very first transplant, just completed, required 27 hours. On the basis of research at the hospital, Beth Zion estimates that it will have an 75% learning curve. The center has been contracted to host a large press conference to announce the intention, of the Republican senator representing her state to run for reelection. Despite Ms. Lange’s best efforts, the senator’s office is very unhappy with the physical condition of the civic center. “This is awful,” says the senator’s chief of staff. “The carpet is worn and the interiors need painting. This isn’t how the center looked six years ago when we booked our re-election announcement speech. It’s too late to move the press conference now, but there is no way the senator is paying the contracted amount for this space. It’s just six years after we selected you, and now the conditions are terrible!” Despite the fact that the civic center is, indeed, six years older than it was at the time of the contract signing, it is not materially different, and Ms. Lange suspects that the complaint about the condition of…arrow_forward
