- Mutation: Mutation is the error occurred in the base sequence of a DNA which is passed along when
DNA replication takes place. - Mutation can takes place as a result of a spontaneous or an induced effect.
- Spontaneous mutation: Spontaneous mutation can be caused by the environmental factors or as a result of normal chemical processes which are taken place in a cell.
- Induced mutations: Induced mutations can be caused by either physical or chemical external agents.
- Mutagen: Agents which causes mutation are known as mutagen.
- Mutagens can be chemicals, ionizing radiations and viruses.
