Question
Chapter 25.SE, Problem 43AP
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
Fischer projections for two D-aldoheptoses whose stereochemistry at C3, C4, C5 and C6 is the same as that of D-glucose at C2, C3, C4 and C5 are to be drawn.
Concept introduction:
When a new chiral center is created in an optically active monosaccharide molecule the arrangement of H and OH on the new chiral center can be either H at left and OH at right or H at right and OH at left. Hence two isomers can be written.
To draw:
Fischer projections for two D-aldoheptoses whose stereochemistry at C3, C4, C5 and C6 is the same as that of D-glucose at C2, C3, C4 and C5.
