The largest artery in the body is aorta that arises from the heart's left ventricle and extends to the abdomen. The diameter of the aorta is 2–3 cm (centimeter). It is divided into four principal regions, namely, ascending aorta, thoracic aorta, aortic arch (arch of the aorta), and the abdominal aorta.
