The role of TPA and plasmin in thrombolysis.
Introduction:
Thrombolysis is the process wherein the blood clot dissolves. It starts with fibrinolysis, which is the breakdown of the fibrin glue generated during the coagulation cascade. Clotting is an important function of the platelets. Whenever people are injured and bleeding takes place because of damaged blood cells, the platelets move to the damaged area and surround the damaged blood cells, thus they are helpful in clotting the blood.
