Introduction:

In most of the cases, the length of the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecule may surpass the capacity of the cellular dimensions. In such cases, the DNA needs to be compacted. This compaction is performed by means of DNA supercoiling. Moreover, certain proteins such as histones also mediate this compaction and give rise to chromatins and nucleosomes.
