The depression in freezing point ( ΔTf ) of a solution in the presence of a solute of molality ( m ) is given as:

  ΔTf = Tf0 TfΔTf=i(Kf×m) -----(1)

Here,

  Tf0 and Tf are the freezing points of the pure solvent and solution respectively. Kf denotes the freezing point depression constant and i represents the Von’t Hoff factor.
