Introduction:
mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) is a component of mTORC1 (mTOR complex 1). mTORC1 is a central kinase sensor, which is involved in the integration of hormonal activity, cellular responses, energy status, and nutrient availability. The results of an activated mTORC1 are increased ribosomes, decreased autophagy, and protein synthesis.
