The order Bacteroidales comprised of obligate anaerobes. The major genus of this order is Bacterioides. It contains different species, which are fermenting sugars, saccharolytic, fermenting proteins to acetate and succinate as chief products of fermentation. Bacterioides are commonly present in the human intestinal tracts as commensals.
