R has a strong absorption in its IR spectrum at $1717{\text{cm}}^{-1}$ and three singlets in its ${}^1\text{H}\text{NMR}$ spectrumat $\text{1}\text{.02}\left(9\text{H}\right)\text{,}\text{2}\text{.13}\left(\text{3}\text{H}\right)$, and $\text{2}\text{.33}\left(\text{2}\text{H}\right)\text{ppm}$.
